Ya es un hecho que la surcoreana Samsung aumentará su presencia física en Estados Unidos y con ello, la potencial apertura de un centro cercano al de Googleplex ya será un hecho.
Próximamente veremos el corte de cinta de funcionarios de Samsung en el área del Silicon Valley, ya que el nuevo residente de la conocida área de tecnólogas, Samsung, anunció la construcción de lo que será su nuevo edificio de R&D (Research & Development) directamente en Estados Unidos y dividir las funciones de la empresa más allá de Corea Del Sur.

Samsung Begins Construction of New Silicon Valley R&D Center
SAN JOSE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–
Samsung Research America (SRA), a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., today announced the groundbreaking for its new 8.5 acre campus in Mountain View. A groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on October 16 at 665 Clyde Avenue.
With $187.8 billion in sales and 270,000 employees across 79 countries, Samsung Electronics is a global leader in technology that has been a presence in Silicon Valley for more than three decades. The R&D center will provide a state-of-the-art campus that can support the current rapid growth in the organization, and also provide the infrastructure to support Samsung’s open innovation and university collaboration activities.
“Our new state-of-the-art R&D center will provide an outstanding environment to support our plans for strategic growth and attracting the very best employees,” said Daniel Eum, president of SRA. “This expansion, in addition to Samsung Semiconductor Inc.’s new San Jose campus, builds upon Samsung’s 35-year history in the Bay Area and reinforces our commitment to the valley.”
The campus will include two new six-story class-A office buildings totaling approximately 385,000 sq. ft. and two parking structures – one five-story, the other six-story. Expected occupancy is December 2014 in the buildings being designed in accordance with LEED Gold and LEED Platinum certification standards.
This expansion builds upon Samsung’s long-term presence in the Bay Area. In July, state, city and community leaders joined Samsung Semiconductor Inc. in a groundbreaking ceremony for the 1.1 million square foot facility expansion of its San Jose operations. Beyond Silicon Valley, Samsung is continuing to expand its facilities across the United States, with increased investments and significant new employment opportunities.

Desde verano se había escuchado que Samsung seguía los pasos de Motorola de establecerse directamente en Estados Unidos para responder mejor al mercado del mundo móvil y tomando en cuenta que Samsung tiene pendiente su primera convención de desarrolladores y ver cuando finalmente revelaran a los consumidores su propuesta de sistema operativo Tizen en conjunto con Intel.
