Linux, en especial Debian y Ubuntu son conocidos por romper paradigmas con MAC y Windows hablando acerca de manejo de aplicaciones.
En particular, los .deb, eran los tipos de aplicaciones instalables más popular, debido a su rápida ejecución en Linux como un equivalente de un .exe de Windows.
Pero lamentablemente, la comunidad desarrolladora de programas a base de .deb tuvieron un duro golpe ya que esta semana, GetDeb y PlayDeb, dos de los grandes repositorios donde se cataloga la mayoría de los programas disponibles.
GetDeb and PlayDeb discontinue
After the server crash where also the GetDeb and PlayDeb database was lost and given the fact that GetDeb and PlayDeb now have too many packages to be handled as a one-man-project I decided to discontinue GetDeb and PlayDeb.In the last years I have spent so many hours in the project that now it is just too much for me to maintain beside my usual job.But this does not mean that all the work in GetDeb and PlayDeb is lost. The repository is still completely mirrored, e.g.:

La esperanza es que al momento varios de los grupos detrás de las distribuciones populares de Linux (los servidores de Linux Mint y Ubuntu ya incluyen una gran colección de programas aunque por alguna “funny” razón no son actualizados activamente) apoyen a la catalogación de estos programas.
Ambos repositorio era corrido por esta persona solamente y al momento entiende que está lejos de su alcance ahora mismo recuperar la base de datos perdida.
