El turno final le tocó a iOS 10. Esta nueva actualización del sistema operativo móvil de Apple, es presenta como la más grande para los usuarios de iOS en muchos años. Según Craig Federighi, esta actualización es la más grande de todas luego de sumar los 10 puntos más importante de la actualización.

Este update es largo, tiene muchas novedades de las cuales nos gustaría hablar. Pero aquí pasaremos sobre todas brevemente, mientras que buscaremos profundizar un poco más en algunas en un post adicional. Cabe destacar que entre las cosas nuevas de interés se encuentran una aplicación de Apple TV Remote totalmente rediseñada, producto de los pedidos de los usuarios de querer tener una aplicación en el iPhone con las mismas capacidades del Siri Remote que fue presentado con el nuevo Apple TV. También se integra ahora integración de descargas automáticas en el Apple TV. Cuando descargues un app universal en tu iPad o iPhone, esta llegará también al Apple TV de forma automática.

Universal Clipboard – Ahora lo que copies en un equipo, lo podrás pegar en el otro con el ya tradicional Copy & Paste que sueles hacer en tu computadora, iPhone o iPad. Si copias por ejemplo un texto en la Mac y luego lo quieres pegar en tu iPhone, ya no tienes que enviárselo por texto o añadirlo a un note, pues podrás darle Paste en tu iPhone y lo tendrás listo. Esto funciona vice versa.

Raise to Wake – Según lo indica el nombre, eso mismo es lo que hará el teléfono cuando lo cojas. Ahora se despertara la pantalla una vez levantes el teléfono de la superficie.

Lock screen – No es que el Lockscreen tenga un cambio como tal, es que ahora tiene funcionalidad añadida. En este podrás ver notificaciones muy diferentes pues son funcionales, que se integran con 3D Touch muy bien.

Expansión de 3D Touch– En un intento más porque la gente utilice 3D Touch, Apple ha llevado las notificaciones y widgets al lockscreen para hacer de este uno más informativo y práctico. Aquí podrás recibir notificaciones de aplicaciones como por ejemplo Uber, y desde el mismo Lockscreen contestarle al driver con 3D Touch. Podrás ver puntuaciones del widget de ESPN, tu calendario y gestionar acciones al igual que hasta reproducir videos, todo sin desbloquear el iPhone.

Siri para desarrolladores – Se acabó el llanto de los programadores. Ahora Siri podrá ser utilizado con aplicaciones de tercero para gestionar alguno de tus comandos. Por ejemplo, puedes pedirle a Siri que le diga a Danny por WhatsApp que llegaras tarde en la noche. Siri automáticamente busca el contacto, redacta el texto y lo envía. Esto funcionara de forma similar con otras aplicaciones.

Siri es más inteligente – Ahora el asistente es mucho más inteligente, ya que cuenta con sugerencias basadas en tu localización, disponibilidad de tiempo acorde a tu calendario, direcciones recientes y más opciones predeterminadas que Apple ha integrado. Apple está haciendo lo mismo que Google aquí, permitiendo que Siri aprenda cada vez más de los usuarios.

Photos ahora compite directamente contra Google -La actualización del app de Photos de iOS, ahora tiene funcionalidad similar a la que Google ofrece hace un tiempo. Específicamente el caso de las memorias, Photos ahora basado en inteligencia y un algoritmo, es capaz de crear diferentes mini trailers de momentos basados en imágenes eligiendo estas por localización, reconocimiento facial entre otros detalles importante. Esta mini película cambiaría el orden aleatoriamente, de acuerdo a la música que elijas.

Apple Maps – Los mapas de Apple tienen un nuevo diseño. Ahora iOS cuenta con una aplicación de mapas totalmente rediseñada. Todo es a base de predicciones. La aplicación intentará darte sugerencias reales que sirvan para algo, de acuerdo  tu localización, la hora en la que estás y todo los que tenga que ver contigo. La interfaz es más limpia, permitiendo que el tráfico y otra información sea más agradable a la vista. La parte de Apple CarPlay también tiene la misma actualización, por lo que se verá uniforme en ambos lados. Al igual que Siri, ahora los mapas pueden ser utilizados por los desarrolladores con sus extensiones. Podrás realizar pagos desde la aplicación a restaurante, reservar un Uber y hasta monitorear la ruta sin abandonar la aplicación de los mapas.

Apple Music – El tan esperado rediseño ya llego para la aplicación de música. Tomando en consideración que la primera versión era un poco confusa para muchos, Eddy Cue decidió rehacer está por completo para ofrecer una interfaz limpia que haría que la música sea más fácil de disfrutar. Las secciones para navegar siguen intactas en el fondo, las pestañas son las mismas. Pero ahora tienes letras de las canciones dentro del panel de Nowplaying, al igual que otra información que puedes acceder desde esa pantalla, sin abandonar la misma.

Apple News – Tal como se hizo con la música, Apple también ha lanzado un buen diseño de la aplicación de News actualizado para facilitar la lectura de las noticias más importantes. Ahora en News, los usuarios pueden recibir notificaciones de las suscripciones en iOS 10. Los títulos de las noticias, al igual que el texto, tienen una nueva forma en esta versión para enfatizar las lecturas de cada uno de los creadores de contenido.

Apple Home – Muchos usuarios se quejaban de que necesitaban una aplicación como tal para manejar sus accesorios conectados en el hogar. Hoy, Apple los escucho y les da Apple Home, una alternativa real a quienes no desean tener que utilizar Siri. Cabe destacar que HomeKit está integrado al Control Center, lo que da acceso rápido desde el Lockscreen.

La aplicación de Phone (Teléfono) – La aplicación más obsoleta de todas, finalmente recibir cariño por parte de Apple. Ahora con iOS 10, los voicemail tienen transcripciones por lo que paras ver de forma textual sin tener que escuchar el mismo. También ahora puede detectar que numero que no tienes en tu lista de contactos, puede ser un Spam y lo marcará mientras entra la llamada como eso mismo.

Messages – El update más grande lo tuvo messages. Estoy ansioso de poder contarles más sobre Messages en otra nota, pues es mucho lo que hay que cubrir. Sin duda alguna, es la aplicación más utilizada en el iPhone y por lo tanto, se merece todo el cariño que Apple le dio en esta versión. Los emoji son 3 veces más grandes, aparecerán ahora con tan solo poner una palabra. También podrás definir qué tipo de mensaje deseas enviar. Antes, todo era solo una burbuja azul similar, no importa el tono de voz que le aplicaras al mismo. Hoy, vemos como iMessage te permitirá enviar diferentes tipos de burbujas, con textos más grandes para mayor expresión al igual que burbujas con efectos especiales como mensajes secretos. Pero lo más importante de todo lo es los apps que se integran a Messages. Ahora developers podrán crear aplicaciones que se integran a la aplicación. Apple Music, Siri y Mapas, también están integrados a la aplicación de mensajes y podrás disfrutar de Rich Media messages dentro de una conversación sin abandonar la misma.

Entre otras cosas, los Live Photos ahora pueden ser editados. Safari en el iPad tiene una nueva forma de Split Screen en iOS 10. Editar fotos RAW también es posible y la seguridad fue lo último que se tocó pero se le dio mucho énfasis al final de la presentación. Todas las aplicaciones de mensajerías ahora serán cifradas de punta a punta.

Esta actualización ya está disponible para los desarrolladores en el portal de Apple. Para el público general que quiera participar del beta, pueden acceder al mismo a partir de julio. Para el público en general, este update llegará en  otoño.

Personal & Expressive Messages
Messages is the most frequently used iOS app, and with iOS 10 it is more expressive and fun with animated and personalized ways to message friends and family. Messages includes powerful animations, such as balloons, confetti or fireworks that can take over an entire screen to celebrate a special occasion, invisible ink to send a message only revealed after a friend swipes over it, and for added personalization, handwritten notes. Automatic suggestions make it easy to replace words with emoji, Tapback creates a quick and simple way to respond with just a tap and rich links let you see content inline and play media without ever leaving your conversation.

iOS 10 brings the power of the App Store® to Messages, opening up new opportunities for developers to create fun new ways for users to communicate in a thread, including stickers to be peeled and pasted into conversations, the ability to quickly personalize GIFs or edit photos, send payments or schedule dinner or a movie, all from within Messages.

Siri Opens to Developers
In iOS 10, Siri can be extended into major new areas and do more than ever by working with the apps you love to use. For the first time, developers can build on the intelligence Siri offers and let users interact directly with apps using just their voice. SiriKit™ helps developers easily design their apps to work with Siri for messaging, phone calls, photo search, ride booking, personal payments and workouts, or use Siri to control CarPlay® apps, access climate controls or adjust radio settings within automakers’ apps.

Beautifully Redesigned Maps
Maps in iOS 10 gets a beautiful redesign that makes it even simpler and more intuitive to use. Now open to developers with new extensions, apps like OpenTable can integrate bookings right into Maps, and services like Uber and Lyft can make it easier for users to book a ride, without ever leaving the Maps app. Maps is even smarter with new intelligence that proactively delivers directions to where you most likely want to go next, based on your routine or appointments on your calendar. Once a route is planned, Maps can search along the route for gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops and more and provides an estimate of how the stop impacts the length of your trip.

Rediscover Memories in Photos
Photos in iOS 10 helps you rediscover favorite and forgotten occasions from your photo library by automatically surfacing them in Memories. Memories scans all your photos and videos and finds favorite and forgotten events, trips and people, and presents them in a beautiful collection. A Memory also contains the Memory Movie, an automatically edited movie with theme music, titles and cinematic transitions.

Memories uses advanced computer vision to group the people, places and things inside your images into albums with on-device facial, object and scene recognition. This intelligence brings Memories and related photos to life in a way that’s personal and meaningful to you, while maintaining your privacy.

Home App for Simpler Home Automation
The Home app is deeply integrated into iOS, delivering a simple and secure way to set up, manage and control your home in one place. Accessories can be managed individually or grouped into scenes so they work together with a single command and can be controlled by using Siri. They can be managed remotely or set up for home automation with Apple TV®, and can respond with automatic triggers set by time of day, location or action.

Support for HomeKit™ continues to expand globally with nearly 100 home automation products adopting HomeKit this year, bringing support for thermostats, lights, window shades, door locks, video cameras and more to the Home app. Later this year, leading home builders, including Brookfield Residential, KB Home, Lennar Homes and R&F Properties, will begin integrating many of these HomeKit devices into new homes.

All-New Design for Apple Music & News
Apple Music has an all-new design, bringing greater clarity and simplicity to every aspect of the experience. It uses a new design language that allows the music to become the hero and a new structure that makes it easy to navigate and discover new music. The Library, For You, Browse and Radio tabs have been completely redesigned to provide an even greater sense of place, and we’ve added a Search tab to make finding music even easier. All of these changes come together to create a design that is clear and intuitive. iOS 10 features a redesigned News app with a new For You, organized into distinct sections that make it easier to find stories, support for breaking news notifications and paid subscriptions.

iOS Experience
In iOS 10, accessing the information you need is easier and quicker than ever. Privacy in iOS 10
Security and privacy are fundamental to the design of Apple hardware, software and services. iMessage®, FaceTime® and HomeKit use end-to-end encryption to protect your data by making it unreadable by Apple and others. iOS 10 uses on-device intelligence to identify the people, objects and scenes in Photos, and power QuickType suggestions. Services like Siri, Maps and News send data to Apple’s servers, but this data is not used to build user profiles.

Starting with iOS 10, Apple is using technology called Differential Privacy to help discover the usage patterns of a large number of users without compromising individual privacy. In iOS 10, this technology will help improve QuickType and emoji suggestions, Spotlight® deep link suggestions and Lookup Hints in Notes.
